چکیده
Understanding the relationship between compressional and shear wave velocities their anisotropic characteristics in self-resourcing reservoir shales is of considerable interest for petrophysical, geophysical, geomechanical applications unconventional resources exploration production. We compile laboratory measurements on ultrasonic velocity known shale reservoirs worldwide. Their propagating vertical horizontal directions can be characterized by a linear model with coefficients determination (R2) close to 0.9. The P-to-S-wave ratio direction overall higher than that direction. decreases decreasing P-wave due increasing organic matter content hydrocarbon-filled porosity. Mineralogy influences minor degree. Carbonate-rich have silica-rich when lower 4 km/s 5 km/s. By employing fluid substitution, we justify derived from apply containing gas or volatile oil. models predict two wells reservoirs. predictions targeted less 3% errors, demonstrating proposed models, first order,

Relationships between compressional-wave and shear-wave velocities in clastic silicate rocks
New velocity data in addition to literature data derived from sonic log, seismic, and laboratory measurements are analyzed for elastic silicate rocks. These data demonstrate simple systematic relationships between compressional and shear wave velocities. For water-saturated elastic silicate rocks, shear wave velocity is approximately linearly related to compressional wave velocity and the compr...

Determination of acoustic shear and compressional wave velocities for steel samples by impulse excitation of vibration
A standard tool to determine the dynamic Young and shear moduli for refractory materials is based on measuring the free resonance frequencies of a bar of rectangular section. This measurement can be performed either by response to an impulse, or using a periodic excitation of slowly varying frequency. One of the great advantages of this resonance technique is its simplicity: it does not require...

Shear and Compressional Wave Velocities along with other Petrophysical Logs, are considered as upmost important data for Hydrocarbon reservoirs characterization. Shear Wave Velocity (Vs) in Well Logging is commonly measured by some sort of Dipole Logging Tools, which are able to acquire Shear Waves as well as Compressional Waves such as Sonic Scanner, DSI (Dipole Shear Sonic imager) by Schlumbe...
متن کاملEvaluation and Prediction of Shear Wave Velocities
Shear wave velocities from full waveform acoustic logs were determined at DSDP Site 613 using the spectral ratio inversion method. Discrete shear wave velocities for a 350 meter interval at 0.5-2 meter depth increments were calculated. Shear wave velocities were not evaluated for the upper 130m of the log because of data recording problems. The sediments of Site 613 represent a progression from...
